We here at Randolph Interior Design are wishing you and your families the best during this difficult and confusing time. In light of our current situation, here are a few ideas to keep you and your families busy whilst socially distancing from others.
1. Jumpstart on Spring Cleaning
We all have busy lives, there is no doubt about that! Sometimes doing our laundry or making the bed after we wake up simply isn’t at the top of our priority list. Make the most during this time by deep cleaning and organizing the house or even that room or closet that has been on your list forever! Start by making a checklist of things you would like to accomplish. If it feels overwhelming, start small. Tackle one area at a time. Even doing one small thing a day will feel great and before you know it you will have accomplished a lot!
Looking for a family activity? Gardening and yard work are great ways to keep you (and the kiddos) busy during the quarantine. Family gardening is such a rewarding experience and perfect during the spring and summer season. There are spring bulbs that can be ordered online and shipped directly to you home. Or what about starting a small vegetable garden? It’s a great way to have fresh tomatoes, green beans, or cucumbers throughout the summer and kids love to help pick what they’ve planted. There are many online resources for gardening. Click here to see one of our favorite gardening blogs.
3. Cook a New Recipe
Take advantage of your time at home to try new recipes! A great place to start is allrecipes.com or epicurious.com. You can find recipes based on ingredients that you have at home, and the options are endless.
4. Watch a New Movie
Just because theaters are closed does not mean that movie magic has come to a halt. Make some popcorn, cozy up in your jammies, and escape in the comfort of your own home while watching these flicks:
- Julie + Julia (Netflix)
- The King’s Speech (Netflix)
- A Simple Favor (Amazon)
- Yesterday (HBO)
- The Farewell (Amazon)
- Apollo 11 (Hulu)
- Good Will Hunting (Hulu)
- The Irishman (Netflix)
- Purple Rain (Netflix)
- The Entire James Bond series, ‘60’s to present day (Amazon)
5. Spruce Up a Space in Your Home
Making changes to any space in your home can be a huge mood lifter. Paint an office or bedroom or swap out the hardware in your master bathroom or powder room. Small changes can have a big impact!!
6. Create a Vision Board, Write Down Life Goals, Start a Gratitude Journal
Turn your coronavirus quarantine into a self-care staycation. We believe there is always something to be grateful for, even during uncertain times. Take this time to start a gratitude journal and write five things you are thankful for everyday. This will help put focus on the things that are good and happy in your life and help you keep a positive mindset.
